In July 2026, the Bow Valley Chamber of Commerce had the opportunity to bring the voice of both our current and future business community to Banff Town Council.
Together with the Banff & Lake Louise Hospitality Association (BLLHA), we presented concerns regarding the proposed increase to the Parking Cash-in-Lieu rate and the impact it could have on future small and medium-sized businesses. Our goal was to help Council better understand how these costs can influence business growth and future economic development.
While Council approved an increase from $21,000 to $35,000 per parking stall (down from the proposed $40,000) it had been sometime since the last increase approximately 2012. We were encouraged to be part of the conversation and contribute to a greater understanding of the challenges facing businesses.
This also marked the first time the Bow Valley Chamber presented before Banff Town Council, an important step forward as we continue to strengthen relationships and advocate for a thriving business community across the Bow Valley. We look forward to more conversations with Banff Council in the future.
